Ombligo Ubicuo - Oracle Deck
This Oracle Deck is incredibly special to me and it is a true honor and a joy to share it here in the apothecary as a medicine offering. Moving forward it is important to curate and share important work by my colleagues in art and medicine work. Foremost amongst these special beings is Jesse Cohen. These cards are born from years of deep dreaming, exploration, and creative courage. I have seen them develop over time, I have received many meaningful card pulls and readings from Jesse over the years. We discuss the mystery and our lives on an almost daily basis and I respect and treasure her visions deeply; as I know they come from the heart of the living world. I have these cards myself and use them in my readings. They have the particular resonance of direct unmitigated truth, while leaving lots of room to feel into our own soul's meaning.
They come with a book that is beautifully printed and illustrates many ways to use the deck. The cards themselves belong to three different sections: Transformation/ Regeneration/ & Birth. Each section of the deck has its own universe and waves of feeling.
There are many ways to work with this deck personally and communally. I urge you to develop relationships with them over time and find your own way of working with them, while also honoring that they are a tool; a powerful divinatory object, with its own rules, dimensions, and cast of spirit helpers conjured from this great big beautiful animist world. “So it’s similar to the Karamatsu Shibori (Japanese Larch):
The dark radiating lines within this design's circular shape evoke the form of the radiating branches of this deciduous conifer native to Japan. The way the lines break and join shows a relationship to the breaking and joining of the vertical lines in wood grain shibori. But to me, I feel it resembles the life lines of trees when you cut a tree in half.”
